About 100 million accounts in Facebook are duplicate ones based in India, Turkey and other developing countries, according to a report released together with the quarterly figures of the company. The duplicate IDs constitute 4.3 to 7 percent of authentic operational accounts.
Duplicate accounts are accounts that people open in addition to their actual accounts. This is against the Facebook Terms and Conditions that prohibits opening of two different accounts by the same person. The number of accounts created for spamming and marketing related needs account for a further 1 million.
The figures on the fake and duplicate accounts were released in the company's quarterly reports. The social networking giant at present has about 1.28 billion active accounts
