Carrick: we fight for each other and do what we can for Wayne
'Come on board mate' - Rooney's team mates are hoping Rooney stays at Old Trafford
Michael Carrick hinted Rooney was ready to commit to United by welcoming Rooney back into the fold after Manchester United's 4-1 win over Swnasea: "He's one of us and we all stick together."
On being questioned about Rooney's contribution as a substitute Carrick responded: I thought he came on and looked good. He set up two goals and that's what he's all about. He's a real threat. He got a bit of a whack when he made Danny's second but I'm sure he'll be all right. He's a big Manchester United player. He's one of us and we all stick together.
"When we're on the pitch we fight for each other and do what we can for Wayne. He's certainly part of that."
Rooney was given a rousing reception from the United fans as he began warming up to come on as a substitute: "He's given this club an awful lot so the fans support him and we support him. As I said, we stick together. It was a good day." Carrick said.
Phil Jones was also appreciative of the fan's response for Rooney: "That was great. He is a fantastic player and he did well when he came on. He came on and did the job. He did well. The manager and all the lads are pleased."
Rooney, though, is still yet to make a public statement regarding his future with speculation of a move to Chelsea doing rounds all summer.
